Arrival and residency
When you move to Jena to work, different regulations apply depending on whether you’re a citizen of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland, or whether you’re from the so-called third countries. You may need a visa to come to Germany, depending on the circumstances and your country of origin. There are four types of residence permits allowing for a subsequent longer term stay:
- Temporary residence permit
- Permanent residence permit
- Permanent residence permit – EU
- EU Blue card
