Mohammad Turkieh, Naji Malab, Mohamad Bdiwi, Nazyar Rasheed and Mahammad Al Zuabi from Syria and Yusuf Ali Said from Eritrea work at the textile company Mewa in Jena.

“My name is Nazyar Rasheed and I work as a seamstress. It was difficult for me to arrive in Jena because of all the forms and the language. I thank Mewa for their help, e.g. they sent me to a German course. For me, punctuality and having lots of appointments are typically German.”
“My name is Mohamad Bdiwi, I work as a tailor at Mewa. My journey to Jena and my arrival here was very difficult, but I was well supported. For example, Mewa provided me with my work clothes. What I particularly like about my job is the regular working hours. I like Jena and now that I’ve learned German, I’ve arrived here well.”
“I am Mohammad Al Zuabi. I came to Jena from Syria for work. My journey here was very difficult, I needed a lot of papers and documents. But my company supported me, especially with the language, with the residence permit and finding accommodation. What I like about Jena is that there are no traffic jams.”
“My name is Naji Malab. Here at Mewa, I was supported in learning German and developing my specialist knowledge. I particularly like the working atmosphere and the fact that I can achieve great results with honest work.”
“My name is Yusuf Ali Said and I come from Eritrea. I think it’s important to learn German if you want to get on well here. For me, streetcars and politeness are typically German.”
“Hi, I’m Mohammad Turkieh and I work as a mechatronics technician at Mewa. I completed my apprenticeship here in 2019. I particularly like my team and the varied work.”

Many thanks and all the best for you!
