Apprenticeship as an electronics technician (crafts)

‘Solving individual problems …’ Meike, apprentice at D-I-E Elektro AG

DieAusbildung als Elektroniker:in bereitet auf die Herausforderungen des späteren Berufslebens vor, z.B. Geräte und Anlagen einzurichten.

What are you doing and what do you particularly like about your apprenticeship?

I am completing an apprenticeship as an electronics technician for information and telecommunications technology. I alternate between on-the-job and theoretical training. I particularly like the fact that the work is very varied and that there are always new challenges. I also like the fact that you can keep on learning thanks to the constantly evolving technology. There is a lot of variety thanks to the changing work locations. And I enjoy solving individual problems.

What does an electronics technician learn during their apprenticeship?

Above all, the basics of electrical engineering: how to use tools correctly, operational safety, electrical safety measures, types of cable laying, but also how to project and plan.
but also how to plan and fulfil planning specifications.

What specialisms are there in your profession?

Electrical engineering is now used almost everywhere, for example in telephone systems, smoke and heat extraction systems, video technology, access control systems, data technology and networks. All these systems have to be installed and then maintained. My focus here at D-I-E Elektro AG is on fire and intruder alarm technology.

Where can you work after your apprenticeship and what vocational training opportunities are there?

I can work in all electrical engineering companies and also with manufacturers of electronic security and communication systems. You can qualify as a senior site manager, service technician in commissioning, state-recognised technician or master craftsman, for example.
